I’m here to deliver, says Tunji-Ojo

“I am here with a resolute determination to fulfill my duties,” affirms Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, underlining his unwavering commitment to upholding his constitutional responsibilities within the Ministry of Interior.

During an address to the heads of agencies operating under the Ministry’s umbrella, Tunji-Ojo, following his recent assumption of office, reiterated his dedication to this mission. His affirmation comes following the swearing-in of Tunji-Ojo and 44 other ministers by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on Monday.

In his inaugural meeting with the Ministry’s staff, Tunji-Ojo advocated for heightened collaboration among the paramilitary service chiefs operating within the Ministry. While emphasizing the importance of adhering to the law in the execution of their duties, he emphasized, “My leadership is one that stems from the frontlines, not the sidelines. As we strive together, we must cultivate a conducive environment. It’s important to recognize that the work carried out by this ministry resonates with all strata of society, irrespective of their economic standing.”

He continued, “My vision is centered on transformation and efficacy. To realize this vision, I rely on the bedrock of your unwavering support. My presence here signifies a commitment to ushering in positive change and tangible outcomes. Your collaboration is pivotal in this endeavor.”

Tunji-Ojo further articulated his dedication to realizing the Ministry’s objectives and targets. He emphasized his willingness to hold the paramilitary chiefs accountable for their actions. He affirmed, “Just as I am held accountable by Mr. President for the Ministry’s outcomes, similarly, I shall not hesitate to hold you, the paramilitary chiefs, answerable for the actions of your respective agencies. Accountability is a two-way street.”

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyi Akinlade, expressed her elation at Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s appointment to the Ministry. She extended her assurance of full support on behalf of all personnel.

Notable personalities present at the meeting included the Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa; the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration, Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola; the Controller General (CG) of the Federal Fire Service, Abdulganiyu Jaji; and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Interior embarks on a new chapter under the leadership of Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who has laid out his vision for a collaborative, accountable, and transformative journey, promising to navigate challenges together with the dedicated support of his team.
