Bauchi State Police Command apprehended an 18-year-old pregnant housewife, Khadija Adamu, following the unfortunate death of her five-year-old step-daughter. The tragic incident occurred when the child defecated on herself, and Khadija attempted to discipline her.
During her apprehension and subsequent media interaction at the Bauchi State Police Command, Khadija expressed deep remorse for her actions and asserted that her intention was not to harm the child.
She implored for leniency and stated her own maternal status as she is currently four months pregnant with her second child. She explained that she saw the five-year-old as her own daughter, even though she was technically her co-wife’s child. Her disciplinary measure involved using a USB cord, which, unfortunately, resulted in the child’s death.
Khadija clarified that she never intended to cause harm to the child, and she was unaware that her actions would lead to such a tragic outcome. The child did not pass away immediately after the incident but succumbed to injuries the following day, leaving Khadija deeply saddened.
In her plea for leniency, Khadija pointed out that she had been forgiven by others involved in the situation, and she appealed to the police to consider her pregnancy and her unintentional actions in this unfortunate event.
