Afrobeats star Davido has apologised to fans after he was unable to perform at a scheduled Lagos event, citing difficulties in securing aviation fuel and last-minute logistical disruptions.
The singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, was expected to headline a show alongside rapper Zlatan Ibile at a nightclub, Secret Place, located in Ikate Elegushi, Lagos, during its fifth anniversary celebration on Sunday. However, his absence sparked disappointment among fans who had gathered for the performance.
Explaining the situation via his Instagram story on Monday, Davido said unexpected global fuel-related challenges affected his travel plans, making it impossible for him to fly as scheduled. He described the experience as a major disruption, noting that the show had to be rescheduled.
“The world happened to me yesterday. These wars around the world have really started penetrating. Finding fuel was a problem yesterday to even fly. Everything had to be rescheduled,” he wrote.
He apologised to fans who turned up for the event and assured them that he would make it up to them with a future performance. He also congratulated the organisers of the show and reaffirmed his commitment to appearing at a later date.
The incident reflects ongoing concerns about fuel supply challenges affecting aviation and travel in different parts of the world, leading to delays and cancellations.
