The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has extradited two Nigerians wanted by the United States’ FBI over alleged sextortion schemes tied to the deaths of two American teenagers.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the suspects — Mudashiru Afeez Olawale and Adebola Festus Adekunle — were handed over to US authorities on August 26, 2026.
Oyewale said in a Friday statement that the pair would face prosecution over the alleged sexual exploitation and extortion of two teenage boys in separate cases.
The commission said the FBI had identified the men while investigating networks that targeted male minors aged 13 to 17, using illicit material to threaten victims and demand money via transfers, gift cards and cryptocurrency.
Both American minors linked to the cases reportedly died by suicide after being subjected to online exploitation, the EFCC said, adding that one victim, aged 13, was first contacted through Instagram.
