Motorola's Android 17 Beta Adds a Dynamic Island-Style Feature and a New AI Assistant

Motorola has widened its Android 17 beta program to include the Moto Edge 60 Pro, and testers quickly surfaced a long list of changes that go well beyond the official changelog.

The headline tweak moves Motorola’s Live Updates out of the status bar and around the front camera cutout, producing an experience reminiscent of Apple’s Dynamic Island. The build also introduces Qira, Motorola’s own AI assistant, alongside noticeably stronger haptic feedback.

Elsewhere, the update borrows liberally from Google’s Pixel software. There are resizable quick-setting tiles, refreshed Wi-Fi, signal and battery icons, a Pixel-like volume panel, and expanded lock screen customization.

Motorola’s HelloUI app drawer also picked up refinements, including 3×3 folder grids, tinted app icons and improved background blur. Rounding out the release are better notification management, Smart Connect cloud integration and a landscape stereo audio option.
