New NBA president Badejo-Okusanya vows to leave the Bar stronger

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has pledged to leave the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) stronger than she found it after being sworn in as its 33rd president.

She took the oath of office at the association’s Annual General Meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Friday, succeeding Afam Osigwe, SAN, whose tenure has ended.

In a message on her verified X account, Badejo-Okusanya reflected on attending her first NBA conference 24 years ago as a newly called lawyer, saying she was now receiving the leadership baton herself with gratitude and humility.

She said she was determined to run her own leg faithfully and to ensure lawyers feel seen, protected and empowered during her time in office.

“May it be said, when this tenure is over, that the Bar became bolder, and that we left the Nigerian Bar Association stronger than we met it. The work begins today,” she wrote.
