Tinubu: New Army Bases In Zamfara, Kebbi, Oyo, Osun Will Boost Security Response

President Bola Tinubu says the Nigerian Army’s newly activated formations in Zamfara, Kebbi, Oyo and Osun states will sharpen the military’s ability to respond to security threats across the country.

In a statement issued on Sunday detailing steps his administration is taking to boost the welfare and operational strength of the Armed Forces, Tinubu said troops are now positioned closer to communities that have previously borne the brunt of attacks.

“Our troops are now closer to vulnerable communities in these areas, strengthening our ability to respond swiftly and decisively when our people are threatened,” he said.

Beyond the new formations, the President said government is speeding up construction of fresh military barracks and depots in Abuja, Ekiti, Ebonyi and Kogi, noting that similar facilities in Osun have already been completed.

He linked the infrastructure push to a recent pay rise for Armed Forces personnel, saying feedback from servicemen and women shows the increase is already improving household finances. “As we demand more from our men and women in uniform, we must do more to support them and their families,” Tinubu said.
