AFRIMMA Returns After Two-Year Break With Davido, Burna Boy and Tems Leading Nominations

The African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) have returned after a two-year break, and Davido leads the 2026 field with five nominations spanning Artist of the Year, Best Male West Africa, Crossing Boundaries with Music, Album of the Year and a nod for his collaboration ‘With You’.

Burna Boy, Diamond Platnumz and Black Sherif each picked up four nominations, while Tyla leads the female nominees with three and Tems earned two. The nominations spread across music and beyond, with Peller, Carter Efe and Sabinus among the Best Influencer contenders and actors Timini Egbuson, Bimbo Ademoye and Uche Montana featured in the Best Actor category.

The ceremony is scheduled for September 12, 2026, at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas, Texas. Organisers say this edition will also feature the first-ever AFRIMMA music festival, complete with performances, food vendors and fashion showcases.

Founder Anderson Obiagwu said the pause was strategic. ‘For the last two years, AFRIMMA took a break to make it even bigger and create something sensational,’ he said. ‘AFRIMMA is coming back bigger and better this year.’

He added that the festival component would be ‘the biggest ever in Dallas’, featuring some of the continent’s most prominent dancers and musicians.
