Nollywood’s box office boom shows no sign of slowing. Dammy Twitch’s Call of My Life has now crossed N817 million at the Nigerian box office, selling more than 123,000 admissions since its May 15 opening.
The film’s steady climb underlines a wider shift in the industry, where a growing slate of local titles is proving capable of sustaining long theatrical runs rather than fading after opening weekend.
The performance follows a landmark year for Nigerian cinema, headlined by Funke Akindele’s Behind the Scenes, which shattered domestic records with more than N2.4 billion in ticket sales and cemented Akindele’s reputation as the queen of the local box office.
For an industry long defined by straight-to-home releases, the numbers are a statement of intent: Nigerian audiences will pay for the big-screen experience when the stories connect — and the market is rewarding producers who bet on cinema.
