Manchester United great Rio Ferdinand has urged the club to find an understudy for Luke Shaw rather than a direct replacement before the transfer deadline.
Shaw and his teammates were criticised after a 2-0 opening defeat to newly promoted Hull City, and the left-back again struggled against Ipswich.
However, a Bruno Fernandes hat-trick inspired a 5-2 comeback win — United’s first of the season — with Shaw substituted late on.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand defended Shaw as one of United’s most consistent performers over the past year.
