'I'm Too Old For Arsenal' - Ola Aina

Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has waved off talk of a move to Arsenal, joking that he is “too old” to switch to the North London side.

The 29-year-old made the comment in a video that emerged on Tuesday, after a Nigerian fan working at Wimbledon approached him and asked whether he would consider joining the Gunners.

“I’m too old for Arsenal,” Aina replied with a smile.

The defender has spent the past three seasons at Nottingham Forest, having arrived from Torino in the summer of 2023. He also turned out for Fulham during the 2020/21 season before his return to the Premier League, and is a product of Chelsea’s academy.

Looking ahead, Aina has set himself a goal of scoring at least five times in the 2026/27 campaign after drawing a blank in front of goal last season.

The full-back, who started out as a right winger before moving into defence, made 28 appearances across all competitions last term without scoring, though he provided an assist in Forest’s 2-1 UEFA Europa League loss to Fenerbahce.

“I need to pray and fast because I did not score any goals last season. The season before, I think I got three goal involvements. I need to do some serious prayer and fasting because I need at least five. If I get five, I will be content,” Aina said.

The Super Eagles man was linked with a switch to Manchester City in the January 2025 transfer window following a strong 2024/25 Premier League season, in which he scored twice and set up one goal in 35 league outings.
