JAMB Boss Oloyede Bows Out Friday as Segun Aina Takes the Reins

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will formally change hands on Friday, July 31, as its long-serving Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, steps down and hands the reins to his successor, Professor Segun Aina. The ceremony, fixed for 10am, will be streamed live across JAMB’s official social media channels.

Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, was appointed by President Bola Tinubu to take over from Oloyede, whose tenure officially ends on July 31. The Presidency described the incoming registrar as an expert in digital infrastructure, national examination systems and institutional reform.

His academic trail runs from a first degree in Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Kent to Master’s and doctoral qualifications from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, along with the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

With more than 15 years spent advising governments on digital transformation and past consulting roles with NECO and NABTEB, Aina is poised to become the youngest registrar JAMB has ever had, and is regarded as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors in his field.
