Nollywood delivered a crowded slate of new films and series in July 2026, spanning cinema, streaming platforms and Netflix as producers competed for audiences across genres.
Among the headline releases is ‘King of Thieves 2 Agesinkole,’ the action sequel from directors Tope Adebayo and Adebayo Tijani, which brings the legendary thief back to a troubled kingdom and is heading to Netflix. It arrived alongside ‘Njem: The Journey,’ a cinema-bound drama directed by Uche Chukwu.
Period storytelling featured heavily too. Kayode Kasum’s ‘Love And New Notes,’ set in 1984, follows a couple pulled into a dangerous robbery scheme, while ‘The Return of Omotara Johnson,’ directed by Adeoluwa Owu and starring Bukky Wright and Richard Mofe-Damijo, sees a reformed woman drawn back into crime.
Other titles included the drama series ‘Susanna’ featuring Mary Njoku and Rachel Okonkwo, and the wedding drama ‘Okanjuwa’ starring Kunle Remi and Toyin Abraham, which moved to the streaming platform Kava.
The lineup underlines Nollywood’s continued output surge in 2026, with the industry balancing cinema runs, local streaming services and global platforms to reach viewers.
