Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus says Cristiano Ronaldo remains free to return to the national team whenever he chooses, downplaying any lasting rift between the pair.
Speaking after Portugal’s 2-1 win over Norway in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday, Jesus said: “For me, everything is open. Cris has to decide what he wants to do with his own life. It was a misunderstanding and for me, it’s easy to resolve this situation. There are no bad feelings with Cristiano… Ronaldo will decide what he wants to do. I am not the one who decides this.”
Ronaldo left the Portugal camp after a disagreement with Jesus over playing time, and has stayed quiet since returning to Madrid despite earlier promising to reveal the “truth” behind his departure.
