The joint academic and non-academic staff unions of state-owned tertiary institutions in Yobe State have issued a fresh 15-day ultimatum to the government over unimplemented welfare packages for polytechnic and college staff.
In a statement signed by JASU President Mohamed Bukar and NASU Chairman Ali Usman, the unions said three items remain outstanding: the reviewed 2024 CONPCASS and CONTEDISS salary table, the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance, and the Earned Academic Allowance.
They noted that an earlier ultimatum, which expired on September 7, passed without a verifiable resolution, leaving members demoralised. The new window runs from September 8 to September 22, within which the unions want concrete steps taken to end the deadlock.
