The Dangote Petroleum Refinery says it is considering restricting petrol sales to marketers who continue importing fuel, citing concerns over product quality and market transparency.
The measure could take effect as early as this week, subject to consultations, amid rising imports despite growing domestic refining capacity.
Sources said the refinery is worried that some marketers blend substandard imported petrol with its products before distribution, making it hard to distinguish genuine Dangote fuel.
The refinery also flagged the absence of adequate quality-control infrastructure to independently verify imported products entering the market.
