Osimhen Back on Barcelona’s Radar After Alvarez U-turn

Victor Osimhen has resurfaced as a target for Barcelona after the Spanish giants were forced to rethink their forward search.

The club had made Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez their priority following Robert Lewandowski’s exit, but the move collapsed over Atletico’s unyielding demands.

Los Colchoneros are said to be insisting that any buyer meets Alvarez’s €500 million release clause, and they will not negotiate below it despite the player’s wish to move on. As one report put it, “Barca now FULLY understands that Atletico Madrid will not change its stance regarding Julian Alvarez.”

Barcelona also explored an alternative in Bournemouth’s Eli Kroupi Jr., a 20-year-old Frenchman who scored 13 goals in 33 games last season. That option looks remote too, with Bournemouth reportedly wanting €130 million for a player they signed just a year ago for €12 million.

With those doors closing, attention has swung back to Osimhen. The 27-year-old Nigeria international is currently at Galatasaray, where he is said to earn around €15 million per year.

Any deal would still face major hurdles, including Galatasaray’s asking price of more than €120 million and the striker’s hefty wage expectations, which may not fit Barcelona’s pay structure.

Osimhen remains a heavily courted figure, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich all credited with interest in his signature.
