Security forces kill scores of bandits in Sokoto operation

A joint team of police and military personnel killed scores of bandits during a fierce gun battle in Maikujura village, Rabah LGA of Sokoto State.

Police said the operation, in the early hours of Friday, also recovered two AK-47 rifles, 52 rounds of ammunition, about 15 motorcycles and 62 rustled animals.

Command spokesperson DSP Ahmad Rufa’i said the raid followed intelligence that armed bandits were moving towards Maikujura with stolen livestock.

Tactical teams blocked their route, forcing a confrontation in which the criminals were overpowered and retreated with gunshot wounds.
