Ghana has declined a GH¢20 million (about N2.4 billion) donation from MTN meant to support Ghanaian victims of recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a Wednesday statement that the government had already made adequate provision for evacuating and reintegrating affected citizens.
Ghana has so far evacuated more than 1,500 nationals since the attacks began in April — 300 in May, 1,000 in June and another 900 planned last month.
Authorities said the required care and support had been made available to the returnees.
