Four traders injured in last week’s shooting at the Bridge Head drug market in Onitsha have been discharged from hospital, with two others still receiving treatment.
Police say the violence began when a man conveying drugs tried to evade arrest and thugs attacked a security operative to shield him, leaving bystanders hurt.
Anambra Commissioner of Police Nnanna Oji Ama visited the scene, helped calm the situation and pledged to cover the treatment of those injured.
He has also ordered a full investigation into allegations of a midnight raid on the market by police operatives.
