Opposition chieftain and public affairs analyst Salihu Lukman has argued that opposition parties must rally behind a single presidential candidate if they hope to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the January 2027 election.
In a weekend statement, Lukman said division among opposition leaders would be their undoing, and that only a united front could pull the votes needed to end Tinubu’s re-election bid.
He warned that history shows a fragmented opposition strengthens the incumbent when parties chasing the same voters split their resources and votes. “Division is a choice. Cooperation must now become a strategy,” he said.
His remarks come as the ADC, APM, a faction of the PDP and the SDP prepare to meet to forge an alliance against Tinubu’s return in 2027.
