'Nigeria is burning' — Atiku slams Tinubu over Europe holiday

ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his decision to take a three-week vacation in Europe.

In a Sunday statement, Atiku said the president’s absence at a time of widespread hardship reflected a “disturbing vacuum of political leadership,” even if there was no constitutional vacuum.

“Nigeria is burning. Nigeria may not be facing a constitutional vacuum today, but there is a disturbing vacuum of political leadership,” he said.

The former vice-president drew a line between private travel and presidential duty, arguing that a sitting president’s responsibilities are fundamentally different from those of a private citizen.
