Mother, two others held over staged kidnap of her toddler in Plateau

Police have arrested a woman, Catherine Davou, and two accomplices over the alleged staged kidnapping of her two-year-old son in Jos South, Plateau State.

Force spokesperson CSP Ani Iniedu said Davou conspired with two men to abduct her own child, aiming to extract ransom from her wealthy mother-in-law.

The toddler was kept at one suspect’s home while another made ransom calls, with demands rising from N7 million to N15 million before the child was rescued.

Iniedu said one suspect was first arrested, and further investigation exposed the mother’s role in staging the abduction.
