One person has been killed and six others injured in a clash between youths of the Buskuwa and Mabani communities in the Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to the police, the violence broke out on Monday night after three youths from Mabani were allegedly attacked with sticks by suspected Buskuwa youths while heading towards Buskuwa.
The Bauchi State Police Command said the assault triggered a reprisal later that night, during which residents of Buskuwa were attacked and one man, identified as Muhammadu Dare, was killed.
Personnel from the Gamawa Division, backed by hunters and vigilante members, responded and evacuated the injured and the deceased to the General Hospital in Gamawa.
Command spokesman SP Nafiu Habib said three of the injured were admitted for treatment while three others were treated and discharged, adding that one suspect had been arrested with efforts ongoing to catch others.
