Ijebu-Ode ruling house chief sues 11 for N10bn over ‘defamatory’ report

The Vice Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Prof Fassy Yusuf, has sued 11 members of an alleged breakaway faction, demanding N10bn in damages over what he calls a defamatory report.

The case centres on a document titled “Report of the Fusengbuwa Fact-Finding Committee,” dated August 9, 2026, which Yusuf says was published and circulated to damage his reputation.

The university lecturer and lawyer is also seeking N5m in legal costs and a perpetual injunction stopping the defendants from further publishing defamatory material about him.

He wants the court to compel a full and unconditional retraction and apology across national newspapers and social media.

Yusuf is asking the court to declare that the report’s claims — particularly allegations of financial inducement, bribery and document manipulation — are false and gravely injurious to his reputation.
