The Lagos State Police Command has stepped up its crackdown on criminal hideouts across the state under the ongoing Operation Ko S’AYE III, arresting 147 suspects and recovering various weapons and other exhibits.
According to the command, a joint team of operatives from different formations carried out coordinated raids on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at about 5:30 a.m., targeting criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other identified black spots across the state.
Items recovered during the operation included 250 expended cartridges, two knives, one lighter, five battle axes, one pair of scissors, 22 machetes, assorted charms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining Operation Ko S’AYE across the state to deny criminals safe havens and protect residents, urging the public to keep providing timely and credible information to help identify hideouts and apprehend offenders.
In a separate case, the Adamawa State Police Command arrested Abubakar Musa over the alleged murder of 30-year-old Nathaniel Yusuf of Jambutu Ward in Yola North Local Council. The arrest followed a report lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kofare, by Grace Yusuf, the deceased’s sister, who said her brother had been attacked by the suspect.
Operatives responded to the distress call, rescued the victim and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, for urgent treatment, while the suspect was arrested at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand and head, after he was allegedly attacked with a stick.
Despite efforts by medical personnel, he was later confirmed dead by a doctor while receiving treatment. The Commissioner of Police directed the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yola, to take over the case and ensure diligent prosecution.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the medical facility for an autopsy as the investigation continues. The command reassured the public of its commitment to justice and urged residents to remain law-abiding and support the police with credible information.
