Leader of the Niger Delta Liberation Force (NDLF), High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich, popularly called Egberipapa, has petitioned President Bola Tinubu over what he describes as the exclusion of more than 4,000 members of his camp from the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).
In the petition sent to the State House this week, Jackrich also demanded a full audit of the programme’s finances and a review of how beneficiary slots have been shared since PAP was established in 2009.
He said his members had been left out of the scheme for 17 years, despite a 2021 Senate resolution recommending their inclusion and the allocation of 2,000 slots to the group.
According to him, he first raised the matter before the 9th Senate in April 2021 through the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, arguing that his members had taken part in the disarmament process that birthed the amnesty initiative.
Jackrich said the committee later held hearings, backed the group’s integration, and asked the then PAP administrator to account for how funds and slots had been distributed. He attached the relevant Senate documents to his petition for the President’s consideration.
